Fabric
Bamboo fabric is 100% biodegradable unless, of course, it is correctly landfilled.
Bamboo fiber is made from the refined pulp of the bamboo plant. The manufacturing of bamboo into fabric is the part debated by some green activists because caustic soda could be used to break down bamboo fiber in order to make bamboo yarn (as occurs for the organic cotton process). To ensure that your clothing is free of dangerous chemicals, please, verify that the fabric has the Öko-Tex Certification. I AM BAMBU’ products do.
According to the CTITC (Chinese Textile Industrial Testing Centre) and studies by JTIA (Japanese Textile Inspector Association) bamboo fabric reveals antibacterial, antifungal and anti-static efficacy even after a lot of washing.
Bamboo’s natural properties make the fabric non-irritating and a pleasant alternative for anyone with skin sensitivities, allergies or dermatitis. It is perfect and particularly well-suited to babies’ tender skin.
Experts say that bamboo is the “breathing” fabric. Due to bamboo fibre’s cross section, which is composed of a matrix with various gaps, bamboo fibre is breathable having a deodorization value. It is more absorbent than cotton and some synthetic fibres. It evaporates sweat in a split second, keeping you comfortable and dry.
Bamboo fabric provides UV rays protection and thermo-control qualities: it keeps you cooler in hot weather and warm in the cold, producing a lovely “air-conditioned” effect.
Like a blend of silk and cashmere, bamboo clothing feels luxuriously comfortable on your skin. Its elastic strength makes your clothes fit perfectly and its high abrasion-proof capacity makes your items durable.
